Porcine Health Management (PHM) is an open access peer-reviewed journal that aims to publish relevant, novel and revised information regarding all aspects of swine health medicine and production. The journal provides a venue for global research on swine health and production, including infectious and non-infectious diseases, reproduction, epidemiology, management, economics, genetics, housing, nutrition, animal welfare and ethics, legislation, food safety, drugs and surgery. This journal is aiming at readers, and attracting authors, with different levels of experience; Diplomates and Residents of the ECPHM and other colleges as well as PhD students and experienced researchers from outside! Anticipated articles include: original research, reviews, short communications, case reports, case-studies and commentaries.
PHM is the official journal of the European College for Porcine Health Management (ECPHM).

Editors-In-Chief
Heiko Nathues, DVM, EBVS® European Veterinary Specialist in Porcine Health Management
Prof. Dr. Heiko Nathues is a Diplomate of the European College of Porcine Health Management (ECPHM), certified as EBVS™ European Veterinary Specialist of Porcine Health Management and currently the Past-President of the ECPHM. Since April 2021 he is the Vice-President of the EBVS and a member of the Executive Committee.
Since 2013, he is a professor at the Vetsuisse Faculty of the University of Bern, Switzerland, where he is heading the clinic for swine. His primary areas of interest are diagnosis, epidemiology and control of porcine virus- and mycoplasmal-diseases.

Nicolas Rose, DVM, EBVS® European Veterinary Specialist in Porcine Health Management
Dr. Nicolas Rose is a Diplomate of the European College of Porcine Health Management (ECPHM), certified as EBVS™ European Veterinary Specialist of Porcine Health Management and currently the Past-President of the ECPHM.
Since 1995, he is a researcher at the French Agency for food, environmental and occupational health and Safety (Anses) in Ploufragan, France, where he is leading the Epidemiology and welfare research group and is also the deputy head of the laboratory. His primary research areas are epidemiology of viral diseases in pigs as well as modelling of infectious disease.
PHM APC Code Regulation – Effective from 2025
A. Residents
Each Resident may claim up to two APC waiver codes per year.
Conditions:
- You are an active Resident, AND you have submitted your annual SER on time (by 31 January of the current year). Senior Residents are not eligible for an APC waiver code
- AND You are the first or last author of the manuscript
- AND Your manuscript has already been reviewed and accepted.
B. Diplomates
An APC waiver code per year may be claimed by Diplomates who have served as reviewers for the PHM journal.
Conditions:
- You are a Diplomate of the College
- AND you have paid your annual membership fee on time (before 31st of March of the current year)
- AND you have completed two reviews within one calendar year
- The APC waiver is valid for 12 months from the date of the last review.
C. Request procedure
You can request an APC waiver code by writing to the Treasurer of ECPHM at treasurer@ecphm.org.
Only the Treasurer has the authority to decide on these requests (not the Editor-in-Chief, Secretary, or others).
The Treasurer will verify your eligibility and provide you with the code, along with instructions on how to use it during the electronic submission process on the journal’s website.
